Welcome to Year 1/2 - Kingfishers!
Hello! Welcome to Kingfishers. We are a class of Year 1 and 2 children who work hard, enjoy learning and have lots of fun.
What do we do in Kingfishers?
Every day we have a maths lesson, an English lesson, a structured phonics lesson and a guided reading session. We make these lessons as active, fun and practical as possible and, wherever possible, link them to our topic work so they are meaningful and relevant to the children.
In the afternoons, we have our Topic, Computing, Science, PE and RE lessons.
Visits
We go on visits to help us with our Topics. As part of our current topic on Toys we will be visiting the Museum so look out for some fabulous pictures of this on our class page!
Homework
We like to share our reading books at home so that we can get better with our reading skills. We get new books every week and we’re pleased when someone at home signs our reading record or puts a smiley face to show that we’ve tried hard. We also choose a book, to take home, from our school library.

Mathletics is an online platform that has various maths concepts for your children to practise. We will regularly set tasks for your child to complete and view their progress. Your child has their login details for this.

Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice. Your child has their login details for this.
Purple Mash - https://www.purplemash.com/login/
Purple Mash is a fantastic tool that has lots of different activities on for your children to explore. It is used in school to help children with their learning across many areas of the curriculum. To login to the website you will first need to find the school’s login page by clicking on ‘Find my school’s login page.’ Then you will need your child’s login details which they already have.

A great website from the makers of Biff and Chip books. This gives access to a huge range of ORT books which the children can read. A very useful site.
