Learning Together

What we will be learning

We provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can really enjoy learning through a wide variety of exciting activities both with an adult and alongside friends.
During their time with us, we aim to develop their skills within the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. These are split into prime areas and specific areas. Below is an explanation of each of the areas of learning.

Prime areas
Communication and Language: We give opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves; and to speak and listen in a range of situations

Physical Development: We provide opportunities for young children to be active and interactive, and to develop their co-ordination, control and movement. Children are also helped to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy choices in relation to food.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development: We help children develop a positive sense of themselves and others; to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour in groups; and to have confidence in their own abilities.

Specific areas
Literacy: We encourage children to link sounds and letters and to begin to read and write. Our curriculum is built upon a foundation of high quality, varied texts to ignite the children's interest.

Mathematics: We provide children with opportunities to develop and improve their skills in subitising, counting, understanding the composition of numbers, simple calculations and to explore numerical patterns.

Understanding the World: We guide children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, cultures and the natural world around them.

Expressive Arts and Design: We enable children to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials, as well as providing opportunities and encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design technology.
