It’s Wednesday again so we are half way through another lockdown week. Now you have been learning about spiders this week and I hope that you are all enjoying finding out more about them.
Today I have found a story for you about a spider who helps a friend. But first we better learn our sound of the day in phonics.
The sound you will learn today is always a sound that Mr. Grimshaw and Mrs. Molyneux think is a little tricky because of the way it can be pronounced depending on where you live. So just have a go and see how it goes. The sound is ‘ire’ and it’s another trigraph. We usually find this sound at the end of words and sometimes in the middle of words. No word starts with the ‘ure’ sound. Watch Geraldine who will help you learn this sound.
As I said before, today you are going to listen to a story. The story is called ‘Silk the Spider’ and it’s all about a spider called Silk who meets a new friend. Once you have watched the video you can write some sentences to explain what happens in the story. You are going to be authors and re-tell the story in your own words. Now you have nearly learnt all the sounds in Phase 3 of phonics you should be super spellers. Also remember finger spaces and all the other things we need when writing sentences.
Now that you have began to learn about lots of different mini beasts, I wonder if you can find how many there are of each minibeast in the picture below. Find each minibeast and count how many. Remember to record your answers by writing them down, you can write the name of the minibeast and then your answer. Careful counting will help you here, take your time as this will help you.
