Phonics

Revise the ‘ai’ diagraph.

Watch the video below to help you remember the sound.

Practise recognising it in different words - can you read some words with the 'ai' sound in them (pain, chain, brain, paint.)

Can you find objects in your house/outside that have the ‘ee’ sound and write a label for them?

The 'ai' sound with Mr. Thorne and Geraldine the Giraffe

Mr Thorne and Geraldine the Giraffe learn about the 'ai' sound.

Writing

Can you use your phonics to help you write a sentence about the picture below. Remember to use your fingers to count the words in your sentence and also remember to 'smash' the word up to spell the different words.

Other things to remember:

  • Capital Letters at the beginnining of your sentence
  • Finger spaces
  • Segment the words to spell them
  • Take care with your handwriting.

You could also draw a picture to match your sentence and use the picture to help you.

You could also send a picture of your work to Mr. Grimshaw and Mrs. Molyneux by emailing it to robins@stmatthews.blackburn.sch.uk

Mathematics

Can you make some number cards showing 0-20 and put them in order to make a number line? If someone takes a number away can you figure out which number has gone?

Also don’t forget to log into Sumdog as we have set children revision for counting to 10 and this will be set as a Sumdog challenge for Fridays learning task.

A lot of children haven’t accessed Sumdog yet so if you are having any problems please email robins@stmatthews.blackburn.sch.uk and Mr. Grimshaw will remind you of your username and password.
