From the Chair of Governors

This school year has started extremely positively with the children settling in really well in their new classes. The children look great in their new uniforms – thank you for your support with this. Our new teachers, Miss Cotton, Mr Woodward and Miss Minoprio have also settled in really well and are all making a really positive contribution to the team.

Thank you for all the support you have shown so far this year with events like our Macmillan Coffee Morning, the Harvest Festival food collection, the recent Parents’ Evening and the Book Fair. Your support is really valued. Please could I encourage you to really support your child(ren) at home by reading with them regularly – this is one of the most important ways that you can help  your child progress as reading impacts their learning in all the other subjects.

Your Governors have been busy working on your behalf again this term – so far we have held a Full Governing Body meeting in September, with another one planned for December. The Achievement Committee have met twice, once in September and again in November. This is the group of governors whose responsibility it is to consider children’s learning and the standards they reach. We were all delighted with the standards children reached at the end of Year 2 and Year 6 last year. The Resources Committee met in October. This committee is responsible for staffing, finance and buildings. We were successful in bidding for some funding to replace all the older windows and external doors as well as all the guttering, drainpipes and fascia boards in school. This work is likely to start during the Easter holidays.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our Infant Christmas production, Christingle and Carol Service and at the end of term Achievement Assembly on the last day of term.
