Hello everyone - we hope you had a nice weekend and are all safe and well. We would also like to say Ramadan Mubarak to our parents and carers who are currently taking part in the month of Ramadan.

Phonics

Today we are going to learn a new sound and this is another trigraph. A trigraph is three letters making one sound. The children already kniow the 'igh' sound, so lets learn another trigraph. Wach the video about the ear sound and help Geraldine to segment the different words.

Literacy

We are going to listen to the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' again. See what you remember from the story and also think about how this book is simmilar to 'The Bad Temepered Ladybird'. You can then talk about the story and ask some questions about what happned in the story.

Questions - Here are some ideas for questions to ask the children. The answers are also there too.

  3. What did the very hungry caterpillar eat on Tuesday? Pears
  4. How many pears did he eat? Two
  5. What did the caterpillar eat on Wednesday? Plums
  6. How many plums did he eat? Three
  7. What did that caterpillar eat on Thursday? Strawberries
  8. How many strawberries did he eat? Four
  9. What did that caterpillar eat on Friday? Oranges
  10. How many oranges did he eat? Five
  11. How many different foods did the caterpillar eat on Saturday? Chocolate Cake, Ice Cream Cone, Pickle, Swiss Cheese, Salami, Lollipop, Cherry Pie, Sausage, Cupcake, and Watermelon. Ten. 
  12. Why do you think he had a stomachache? He ate too much food.

Maths

Today the maths is based all around the story that you have just been reading. There are lots of actvties that you can try. Don't worry about completing them all, just choose some of gthe activites and complete them. For some of the activities you may need to look at the book, you could use the youtube video to help you, there are also pictures on each of the slides.
