Monday 30th March 2020

Hello everyone!

Due to the current situation teachers have been asked to take a 2 week holiday instead of the Easter holiday and during this time teachers should not set any work or reply to any emails. Mrs. Molyneux is having her holiday over the next two weeks and that starts today (Monday 30th March 2020). Mr. Grimshaw will however still be setting work for all the children and replying to any emails. Mrs. Molyneux will also do the same when Mr. Grimshaw has his holiday.

I have had some lovely emails with photos of the children and their work so please keep on sending them. I have also seen some children spending lots of time on Sumdog and this is helping them make good progress in maths so please continue with that and the challenges that have been set.

Phonics

It’s now time to revise a trigraph. As you all know a digraphs is when two letters make one sound and a trigraph is when 3 letters make one sound. Watch the video and then choose one of the words with the ohh sound in and write a sentence with that word in. Also don’t forget the tricky words your finger spaces.

Literacy

Using the skills you used on Friday to write a description about a character including what they look like and how they behave you can now write a description about somebody that lives in your house or one of your family members. You should write about what they look like, think about what they dress like and also how they behave. Are they kind and generous? Are they tall? You can then draw a picture of them to go with the description. Almost like a wanted poster!

Maths

Have a look around your house at the shapes of different objects. Can you see and name some of the shapes. You can look at both 2D shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles) and maybe use some of the 3D shape names as well (Cube, cuboid, cylinder). You could then have a piece of paper split into 4 with some of the shape names on e.g. square, circle, triangle, rectangle. Then draw a picture of 1 of the items around your house that is the same shape.

Other activities

You could research about Easter and why it is important to Christians and maybe write some of the facts down with a grown up.

Hopefully later on the week I will be sending some craft and fun ideas relating to Easter.
