Hello everyone and welcome back to the virtual Robins!
We hope you all had a lovely break from the home learning tasks and enjoyed spending time doing fun things and relaxing with your families. Most of all, we hope that everybody is safe and well. Mrs Molyneux and Mr Grimshaw are wondering if any of you have any Easter eggs left - we certainly don't!
Our new topic this half-term is 'Minibeasts'. Minibeasts are those very small creatures that live in gardens and sometimes in ponds. Some of them fly, some of them crawl, some of them wriggle, some of them have legs, some of them have wings...there is lots of variety.
To get the topic started and also as a literacy activity, can you make a list of all the different minibeasts you can think of. You could go into your garden to find some or even just look out of your window. You could do some research on the internet. Use your phonics to have a go at writing the names of the different minibeasts you know and then draw a picture of each one next to the word. How many can you think of?
Today we'd like you to remind yourselves about the vowel digraph 'oo', the one which makes the long sound like in the word 'soon'.
Mrs Molyneux and Mr Grimshaw think that you are already very good at knowing numbers that are 'one more' than another number. This activity 'Popping Bubbles', will help you to think of the numbers that are 'one less' than other numbers. There is a number line at the bottom of each slide to help you to work it out. Remember, to find 'one less' than a number, you have to go backwards along the number line.
