As we have already mentioned, we will not be learning any new sounds in the next phase of our phonics learning.  We will, however, need to use the sounds that we already know to read and spell different kinds of words so the next video will help you to remember all the sounds that we have learned so far.

For the next part of our lesson, you will learn that you can blend two consonants together quickly to read new words.  Today we are going to learn how to blend together the letters 's' and 't' to read words starting with 'st'.  Remember, 'st' is not a digraph and you will need to say each sound separately but then blend them together quickly.  Watch the video first to learn how to do it then have a go by yourself.

Can you write some sentences to tell us about your Eid celebrations?  There are all sorts of things you can tell us: who you celebrated with, what special clothes you wore, what delicious foods did you eat, did you get any presents, did you give anybody a present, did you speak to anybody special on the phone?  Tell us whatever you like and you can draw some pictures too if you like.  Perhaps you could even send us some photographs if you have any....we'd love to see them.

Today you're going to learn how to add by counting on from the first number.  Remember how we take the first number in an addition sentence, put it in our heads, lock it in there then use our fingers to count on the next number.  For example, 7 + 2.  Put the number 7 in your head then count on two more from 7 and it gets you to 9.  In the powerpoint game, there is a number line at the bottom of each slide to help you to do it.

Have a go and see how you get on.
