Good morning Robins and mums and dads!
We hope you are all okay today. Who can believe that another week of lockdown is almost over! The longer we do the sooner we will be back to normal, hopefully.
As well as the usual Phonics, English and Maths learning activities, there is something extra today (just for a little fun) which you'll find out about at the bottom of this page.
In phonics today you are going to:-
1. Practise the 'tricky' words that we have been learning at school. Remember with these that you can't blend them to read them. You have to look at the whole word and remember what it looks like. First you're going to watch a video to practise reading and saying them. After you've watched the video through a couple of times, can you play it again and pause it on every word then write it down on a piece of paper for you to read at the end?
Now that you know how to read and write words with the digraph or in, can you read these sentences and write the missing words in them?
Yesterday you read the story about Max and his friends shrinking, going into the log and finding the odd bug, Nok. Here is the link to it if you want to read it again: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/13015.html
Today, you have to use your imagination! If you were in the park or your garden and you could shrink as small as Max and his friends, where would you go and what would you see?
You can either:
1) create your own story about it and think of a title
2) draw a picture of your 'shrunk' self and draw the place that you went to and the things you saw. Label these with words too.
3) tell somebody your story and then record yourself telling it.
We would love to see your stories, however you choose to record them.
Today you're going to practise subtracting one number from another. Remember - subtracting is the same as 'taking away'. You could practise some subtraction before you work through the lesson in the powerpoint presentation. You can use anything to help you take away - pieces of pasta, buttons, pencils, small cars etc. Or you could do some of your own subtraction calculations after watching it and write them down using the minus and equals signs: eg. 8 - 2 = 6
On the 'Resources, Videos and Websites' page there is a video of Mrs Molyneux's chickens (you can read a bit more about it there). She is also going to record a story about a boy who became a chicken (!) for you to listen to tomorrow.
In the meantime, stay safe and keep smiling!
