Welcome to Year 4/5 - Kestrels!

Welcome to Kestrels!

I am Miss Minoprio and I am the class teacher in Kestrels. Mrs Patel is our class teaching assistant.

Physical Education
Kestrels explore movement through dance and we practice and improve our balance and co-ordination through gymnastics. We learn to work with equipment such as balls and rackets through various games and improve our running, jumping and hand-eye co-ordination in athletics.

Our year 4 children attend Darwen Leisure Centre every Thursday afternoon where they are learning how to swim. This is a very important skill and we have lots of fun learning!

Homework
Kestrels receive homework every Friday which is to be returned the following Tuesday. The homework builds on learning that has taken place throughout the week. Homework also includes spellings and times tables.

Reading books are taken home every week and children have specific days to change their reading books. Please help your child to succeed by making sure your child reads at least four times a week and by supporting them with their homework. This will greatly help with your child’s learning within school.

It’s an exciting year with lots of learning and fun. We all look after each other in Kestrels and celebrate our successes together!
